In January of 2015, the Niagara Workforce Planning Board (NWPB) conducted the Employer One survey. Employer One’s purpose was to gain a deeper understanding of the skills and talents within the region’s workforce and to see how those skills aligned with employer needs.
Some highlights of the survey’s results include:
- Almost three-quarters of survey respondents reported Niagara’s supply of available workers as either “good” or “fair”
- Employers identified both hard and soft skills (e.g. interpersonal skills, punctuality, positive attitude) as those most in-demand for the current and future workforce
- The most frequently occurring hiring practices for new hires involved word-of-mouth recommendations and informal hiring practices.
The report is available for download at this link.
NWPB invites readers to respond to this report through a brief, four question survey. The survey can be accessed at this link.
Thank you to all our partners who supported the Employer One Survey.
