St. Catharines, ON – Each year in January the Niagara Workforce Planning Board (NWPB) delivers the Employer One survey. Employer One asks Niagara-based employers to set aside 10 minutes to offer their perspectives on hiring, retirements, and hard-to-fill positions over the previous year. This year, NWPB and Niagara Region Public Health have collaborated to add a new question module on workplace mental health to the survey.
“There’s no denying that the pace and nature of work is changing. These changes can have a direct effect on the mental health of the workforce,” said Mario De Divitiis, CEO, Niagara Workforce Planning Board. “We feel it is important to gain an understanding of how that looks at a local level so that we can see what practices local employers might already be providing to support their teams. At the end of the day, supporting mental health in the workplace is a winning move for everyone.”
The new module is a brief set of five questions that asks employers to share their knowledge and perceptions on mental health in the workplace.
“With Canadian workers spending on average around 60 per cent of their waking hours at work, it is important to support mental health in the workplace setting,” said David Lorenzo, associate director, Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention, Niagara Region Public Health. “Niagara Region Public Health aims to support Niagara workplaces as they promote and protect employee health. This initiative with Niagara Workforce Planning Board will help us do our work around mental health in the workplace even better.”
The Employer One Survey is now open for responses and closes on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019. All employers who complete the survey will be entered into a draw to win an iPad.
Those employers wishing to complete the survey can access it at - https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/E12019.
